LOUDONVILLE, NY — Siena Women's Basketball freshman Francesca Schiro continues to set the standard among conference newcomers, earning her league-high fourth Air Force Reserve Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Week award, as announced by the league Tuesday.
 
This week's honor accounted for games played from Jan. 12–19 (Monday–Monday), rather than the traditional Monday–Sunday window. With four weekly awards this season, Schiro now holds twice as many MAAC Rookie of the Week honors as any other player in the conference.
 
Schiro led Siena in scoring in all three games during a six-day stretch, scoring 20 points once and 17 points twice to average 18.0 points per game. Her performances included her sixth 20-point outing of the season, while she extended her team-leading double-digit scoring streak to 14 games.
 
The freshman was especially effective at the free-throw line, converting 89% of her attempts (24-for-27), and also contributed 10 assists and eight rebounds over the span.
 
Siena returns to action Thursday night with a road matchup against I-87 rival Marist. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. at McCann Arena in Poughkeepsie, NY.
