LOUDONVILLE, NY — Siena Women's Basketball (8-12, 6-5 MAAC) earned an 84-64 victory over Niagara (0-20, 0-11 MAAC) Thursday night at the UHY Center during the 25th annual Pink Zone game. The Saints controlled the game on the boards with a 47-28 rebounding advantage and showcased balanced offense with 24 assists, nine 3-pointers, and 34 points in the paint.
Francesca Schiro led Siena with 23 points, seven assists, and eight rebounds, marking her eighth 20-point performance of the season.
Nicole Melious added a season-high 20 points while shooting four-for-eight from beyond the arc, along with five assists and two steals.
Kaiya Rain Tucker finished with eight points, three steals, and two blocks, and
Caydence Hadley chipped in six points and eight rebounds, including five offensive boards.
Siena set the tone early with defensive pressure and efficient scoring, taking an 18-10 lead after the first quarter. The Saints built on that momentum in the second quarter, using strong rebounding and ball movement to extend their advantage to 41-24 at the break.
Niagara attempted to close the gap in the third quarter, but Siena responded with timely scoring and continued control in the paint. The Saints outscored the Purple Eagles in the period to take a 60-44 lead into the final quarter.
Siena maintained its rhythm in the fourth quarter, pushing the lead into double digits and never allowing Niagara to mount a serious comeback. The Saints closed the game with consistent scoring and defensive stops to secure the 84-64 win.
Siena returns to action Saturday, Jan. 31, when the Saints host Canisius at 2 p.m. at the UHY Center.
