Siena (9-5, 2-1) looks to bounce back after dropping the first three games of its season-long four-game road trip, albeit against perennial mid-major powers Vermont and Iona, and Big Ten foe Indiana.
The Saints dropped their first MAAC contest of the season 75-72 at Iona Friday night, despite erasing a 12-point deficit with 12 minutes to go. Sophomore standout
Gavin Doty delivered in defeat, registering a career-high 31 points, while matching career-bests with 12 rebounds and five steals. Doty now ranks second in the MAAC in scoring (16.0) and seventh in rebounding (6.6) following his third double-double of the season.
Rider (1-11, 0-3) had the league bye Friday after resuming conference action with a 74-71 setback vs. Manhattan Monday. The Broncs have dropped nine in a row overall, however, four of their losses so far this season have come against Power 4 opponents. Rider's lone win so far came back on Nov. 15 against Division III Eastern University.
Siena handily leads the all-time series 39-23, although Rider has won three straight and four of five. The Broncs captured both matchups last season on heartbreakers in the final second, winning on a buzzer beater by Tank Byard in Lawrenceville, before ending the Saints season on a decisive layup by Tariq Ingraham with seven-tenths of a second remaining in the First Round of the MAAC Tournament.
