Saints Surge to Sixth Straight

Siena Pulls Away from Iona for Sixth Straight Win, Best MAAC Start in 10 Seasons

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Sweet six straight. Siena Women's Basketball earned its sixth consecutive victory with a 94–80 road win over Iona on Saturday at the Hynes Athletics Center, fueled by a dominant 53–32 rebounding advantage.

Siena improved to 6–7 overall and 4–0 in MAAC play, while Iona fell to 8–7 on the season and 1–4 in conference action. Siena's 4-0 MAAC record is its best in 10 seasons since starting the 2015-16 campaign 7-0 in league play.

The Saints recorded 50-plus rebounds for the third time this season—the most in the MAAC—and finished +21 on the glass while scoring 42 points in the paint to pull away from the Gaels.

Francesca Schiro led Siena with 23 points for her fifth 20-point performance of the season, adding four assists and two steals. Nicole Melious posted her first career double-double with 19 points and a career-high 12 rebounds, along with two blocks. Caydence Hadley scored a career-high 17 points with three assists, while Kaiya Rain Tucker added a career-best 15 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. Genevive Wedemeyer tied a career high in assists as Siena totaled 24 helpers—the most since Jan. 26, 2023, against Rider.

Siena set the tone early, racing out to a 30–15 lead after the first quarter. Hadley scored 13 of her 17 points in the opening frame, capped by Jamariah Turner's buzzer-beating three.
The Saints continued to control the paint in the second quarter, but Iona's press and three-point shooting trimmed the margin to 46–38 at halftime.

Siena responded with a strong third quarter, using transition scoring and forced turnovers to rebuild its lead. A late three from Dallas Pierce sent the Saints into the final period up 67–52.
The Gaels made a push in the fourth, but Siena remained in control. Melious' fast-break three at 2:37 helped seal the 94–80 victory.

Siena returns home Thursday, Jan. 8, to host Rider at the UHY Center for the Saints' annual Kids Day game, with tip-off set for 11 a.m.
