Saints in Search of First Western New York Sweep in a Decade

BUFFALO, NY – Siena Basketball looks to wrap up its annual Western New York road trip and open February on a high note when the Saints face Canisius Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Koessler Athletic Center.

The "Voice of the Saints" Emmanuel Berbari and former Saint Conner Fenlon '12 will have the radio call of the game locally in the Capital Region on JAMZ 96.3 FM, with pregame coverage beginning at 12:30 p.m.

Winners of four straight to close out January, surging Siena (15-7, 8-3) is in search of its first Western New York sweep in a decade. The Saints got halfway there with a 61% shooting performance leading to an 82-79 victory Friday night at Niagara. Siena has also won four consecutive road games, equaling its longest streak since winning a program-record eight straight from Feb. 23, 2020 – Jan. 16, 2021.

Meanwhile, Canisius (8-14, 3-8) has dropped six straight after having won three in a row to open the New Year. The Golden Griffins three most recent setbacks have been by a total of just 11 points, including an 88-86 overtime loss Friday night to Marist.

The longtime rivals meet for the 116th time in a series which Siena leads 60-55. The Saints cruised to a 74-52 triumph in the first meeting this season on Dec. 7 in Albany, behind a 16-point, 12-rebound performance from Antonio Chandler.
