Siena Swimming & Diving got the 2026 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships underway Wednesday night at the SPIRE Institute with a near-record relay performance and a full slate of contributions across swimming and diving events.
The Saints' 200-yard medley relay team of
Gabrielle Rentosa,
Julia Filiault,
Camryn Raines, and
Clara Samko touched the wall in 1:45.52 to place eighth overall. The time was just .46 seconds shy of Siena's school record and one of the fastest performances in program history.
Siena capped the opening session with the 800-yard freestyle relay, as
Natalie Blume,
Mea Amedio,
Skylar Ricard, and
GayLynn Kirn combined for a time of 7:49.46, finishing 10th in the event.
In the women's 1-meter diving event, the Saints showcased depth across the board. Sophomore
Claire Donlon advanced to the B final with a prelim score of 184.70 and went on to finish 12th overall with a finals score of 198.55. Freshman
Bette Sherr-Garcia recorded a prelim score of 165.55 and placed 19th, while junior
Sydney Murray posted a prelim score of 146.85 to finish 22nd overall.
Through the first five events of the meet, Siena sits ninth in the women's team standings with 102 points as the MAAC Championships continue Thursday.
The meet resumes Thursday with preliminary heats in the morning and finals competition in the evening.
