Back-to-Back Wins for Men’s Tennis; Women’s Team Falls Versus Colgate

Bruno Loch Varella picks up pair of victories in Men’s Team 4-2 triumph over Colgate

LOUDONVILLE, NY – The Siena Men's Tennis team made it back-to-back wins after earning a 4-2 victory over Colgate at the Tri-City Fitness Center in Latham late Saturday night.
 
Sophomore Bruno Loch Varella picked up a pair of victories his singles and doubles match on the day to lead the Saints (2-4).
 
Varella teamed up with freshman Mateja Stefanovic of Kragujevac, Serbia at the doubles No. 3 position to top Jerome Falcon and Parker McGowan 6-2
 
In singles play, Loch Varella upended Vargas 7-5, 6-2 at the singles No. 4 spot.
 
Siena (2-4) also received wins at the singles No. 2 spot from Sviatoslav Koliadynskyi, Matteo Castellazzi at the No. 5 and Zavala Salinas at the singles No. 6 position.
 
Colgate dropped to 1-2.

Both teams also played on the women's side with Colgate defeating Siena 4-1.
 
The Raiders took two of three doubles matches for the point with the Saints' duo of Manuela Gomez and Madeline De Faber-Schumacher picking up the lone win at the doubles No. 2 position against Carina Cristobal and Sasha Herman 6-3.
 
In singles play, Andrea Vargas earned the Saints' point by topping Rebecca Hess 6-1, 6-2 at the singles No. 3 position. 
 
Siena fell for the first time this season, dropping to 4-1, while Colgate earned their first win—moving to 1-3 on the slate.
