LOUDONVILLE, NY – The Siena Men's and Women's Tennis teams earned a sweep of Holy Cross, 5-0 on the men's side and 4-3 on the women's side, at the Tri-City Fitness Center in Latham on Sunday.
Freshman
Mateja Stefanovic, sophomore
Bruno Loch Varella and junior
Matteo Castellazzi each picked up a pair of victories on the day to lead the Saints (3-4) to its third consecutive win.
Sviatoslav Koliadynskyi and
Matteo Castellazzi earned the clinching point at the singles No. 2 spot by defeating Ezequiel De la Plaza and Teddy Callery 6-4 to take the doubles point.
Varella teamed up with Stefanovic at the doubles No. 3 position to earn a 6-3 win.
In singles play, Stefanovic won the first set against De la Plaza 7-6 (2) before the Crusaders' No. 1 player defaulted on the match.
Mars Argun got past Callery 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 while Loch Varella took his No. 4 match in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 against Colton Parker.
At the singles No. 5 spot, Castellazzi prevailed 6-4, 6-2 against Camilo Illanes.
Holy Cross dropped to 1-6.
Next up, Siena will host Le Moyne (1-2) this Saturday, February 21 at 6:15 p.m. at Tri-City Fitness.

The Siena Women's Tennis Team moved to 5-1 on the season after outlasting Holy Cross 4-3.
Zaara Omar earned the clinching victory from the singles No. 2 position by topping Hannah Flynn 6-2, 7-6 (5).
Despite dropping the doubles point, the Saints rallied back in singles play behind victories from
Andrea Vargas at the No. 3,
Selma Bellaouchi at the No. 4 and
Madeline De Faber-Schumacher at the No. 6 spot.
The Crusaders dropped to 2-4.
The Siena Women will also host Le Moyne (0-3) this Saturday, February 21 at 6:15 p.m. at Tri-City Fitness.
