Bruno Loch Varella became a two-time MAAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week award winner on Wednesday.
As nominated and voted on by the conference's sports information directors, the Sao Paulo, Brazil native added a dominant 4-0 week to his resume in the Saints' 5-0 win against Holy Cross this past Saturday and 4-2 win against Colgate on Saturday.
It marked the third consecutive team win for the Saints (3-4).
Loch Varella partnered with
Mateja Stefanovic of Serbia to beat Jerome Falcon and Parker McGowan of the Raiders at the doubles #3 position.
In singles play, Loch Varella topped Tim Vargas 7-5, 6-2 from the fourth singles position.
On Sunday, Loch Varella earned another sweep, defeating Colton Parker 6-4, 6-2 from the No. 4 slot.
In doubles play, Loch Varella once again teamed with Stefanovic to take their doubles No. 3 spot against the team of Parker and Will Donnelly by the score o 6-3.
Loch Varella improved his ledger to 7-4 in singles play and 7-3 in individual doubles matches for the 2025-2026 season.
The Saints will be back in action Saturday, Feb. 21 at 6:15 p.m. hosting Le Moyne (0-3) at Tri-City Fitness in Latham.
