Siena has teamed up with KeyBank for this year's Gold Rush game to raise awareness for pediatric cancer and support local nonprofit Play It Foreward 518. The first 2,000 spectators will receive gold rally towels, and fans are encouraged to wear gold to the game, which is also the color for pediatric cancer. Gold ribbons will also be available on site for fans to secure and wear to show their support for children and families impacted by pediatric cancer.
Siena (18-10, 11-6) continues its gauntlet to close out February – featuring six straight games against the other current top-six teams in the MAAC Standings – with another pivotal matchup. The Saints enter play tied for third with Quinnipiac, and are just a game back of Saint Peter's (15-10, 12-5) with only three games remaining. Having dropped the head-to-head tiebreaker with the Bobcats, and having lost to the Peacocks earlier this month, Sunday is a must-win for Siena if it hopes to have a shot at the two-seed and an extra day of rest for the MAAC Tournament.
Like the Saints, the Peacocks also suffered and overtime heartbreaker Friday night. While Siena has dropped three of four, Saint Peter's has lost two of three as they face an equally important game. While the Peacocks have gone 12-1 at Run Baby Run Arena this season – which is the second-best home mark in the MAAC (Merrimack 10-0) – Saint Peter's is only 3-9 outside Jersey City.
The longtime rivals meet for the 105
th time in a series which Saint Peter's leads, 56-48. The Peacocks have won four of the last five overall in a series in which the home team has won 22 of the past 26 matchups. Saint Peter's prevailed 70-65 in a physical affair which featured 44 combined fouls and yielded 57 free throws two weekends ago at Run Baby Run Arena.
