Siena Earns 50th All-Time Win vs. Saint Peter’s

Siena turns second-chance opportunities into separation in Jersey City

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Siena Women's Basketball used its dominance on the boards and a strong second-half push to earn a 75-62 MAAC victory over Saint Peter's Thursday night at Run Baby Run Arena.

The Saints controlled the glass by a 44-24 margin and converted offensive rebounds into 20 second-chance points, creating separation down the stretch. The win marked Siena's third straight and its 50th all-time victory over the Peacocks, making Saint Peter's the fourth MAAC opponent Siena has reached the milestone against.

With the victory, Siena improves to 10-12 overall and 8-5 in MAAC play, while Saint Peter's falls to 6-16 overall and 5-8 in conference action.

Francesca Schiro led Siena with 21 points and nine rebounds, recording her fourth straight 20-point performance and 10th of the season. Nicole Melious added 17 points and four three-pointers, while Alden Yergey posted career highs with 15 points and four steals. Kaiya Rain Tucker capped a balanced night, finishing with eight points, 10 rebounds and a career-high seven assists.

Siena set the tone early, taking an 18-12 lead after the first quarter and a 33-29 advantage into halftime. After the break, the Saints seized control with a 13-0 run in the third quarter, fueled by defensive stops and transition scoring. Siena outscored Saint Peter's 23-16 in the period and maintained control the rest of the way.

The Saints shot efficiently from the perimeter, shared the ball effectively, and limited Saint Peter's second-chance opportunities, while continuing to impose their physicality in the paint. Siena also forced key turnovers that led to points during its decisive run.

Siena returns home to host Manhattan on Saturday, Feb. 7, at the UHY Center. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
