A day after securing its first win of 2026 by a 9-7 final, Siena Baseball earned its first series victory of the spring by the same score. The Saints exploded for an eight-run fifth to take the rubber game from Massachusetts 9-7 in Aberdeen, Maryland.
Siena (2-7) overcame a 4-1 deficit midway through with a decisive eight-run home half of the fifth. The Saints batted around, sending 13 men to the plate. Six Siena players registered hits in the frame, with the big blows coming via a game-tying two-run home run from
Nick Bergamotto and a two-run single off the bat of
Sean Camacho to punctuate the scoring.
UMass (4-2) rallied with a three-run eighth, but
Richie Paltridge came on to get the final four outs to secure the save.
Camacho led the offensive charge, registering three hits and knocking in three runs out of the nine-hole.
Noah Brooks added a pair of RBI and scored twice to highlight the Saints offensive effort.
Freshman
George Handal tossed 3.1 innings of one-run relief to pick up his first collegiate victory.
Siena returns to action with its first midweek tilt when the Saints take on Maryland Eastern Shore Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Princess Anne, Maryland.
