Siena Men's Golf made a major move up the leaderboard Friday during the second round of The Peoples Championship at Sea Palms Resort in St. Simons Island, GA.
The Saints carded an even-par 284 in the second round — tied for the fourth-lowest team score of the day — to climb seven spots into 10th place in the 21-team field. Siena now sits at 576 (+8) through 36 holes after opening the tournament with a 292 (+8) in Thursday's first round.
Individually,
KC Nickel paced the Saints through two rounds and remained among the top performers in the field, tied for 14
th at -2, 140 following another round of -1 (70) Friday.
Gavin Crowley is now tied for 19
th (E, 142) after shooting -2, 69 Friday.
Michael McConie repeated a round of +3 to go to +6 overall.
Michael Broeker improved by seven strokes thanks to an even round Friday, and is still +7 overall.
Austin Giroux rounded out the lineup with a round of +6 Friday, while
Connor Kiel shot +16.
Siena will return to the course Saturday morning for the third and final round, looking to continue its momentum after posting one of the top team scores in Friday's second round.
