Gavin Doty Earns NABC North Atlantic District First Team Honors

Sophomore Standout Becomes First Siena Player in Five Years to Garner First Team Acclaim

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Gavin Doty continues to rack up the well-deserved honors. The Fulton, New York standout has been selected a National Association of Basketball Coaches North Atlantic District First Team honoree.

Doty becomes the first Siena NABC All-District honoree in three years, dating back to Second Teamers Javian McCollum and Jackson Stormo in 2023, and is the first to secure First Team acclaim in five years since Manny Camper in 2021. Siena boasted at least one NABC All-District selection for eight straight seasons from 2015-23, with Doty becoming the program's 29th all-time honoree dating back to 1976.

Doty was one of 10 players named to the NABC North Atlantic District First Team, which is comprised of top Division I players who compete for the 35 teams which comprise the states of Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, and Vermont. The All-District honors are voted on by NABC-member coaches across NCAA Division I.

On Friday, Doty was named one of 30 finalists nationally to the CollegeInsider.com 2025-26 Lou Henson Award, which is presented annually to the top mid-major college basketball player. The sophomore standout previously earned Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament MVP Honors after leading the Saints to the program's seventh title last Tuesday. Doty was also a unanimous First Team All-MAAC selection, and was named MAAC Player of the Week on Jan. 26.

Doty ranks in the top-10 in the MAAC in multiple offensive categories: second in scoring (17.9), third in minutes (36:40 – 18th nationally), fourth in both assist-to-turnover ratio (2.17) and defensive rebounding (5.5), seventh in rebounding (7.0), and eighth in free throw percentage (.855). He also paces the Saints with 14 20-point efforts and six double-doubles.

Doty has totaled 608 points – currently fourth most in program single-season history and the highest total in 24 years (Dwayne Archbold – 715 points in 2001-02) – while his 17.9 points per game is the highest scoring average by a Siena player since Ryan Rossiter averaged 18.7 points during the 2010-11 season.

Dancing for the first time in 16 years, Siena and Doty are seeded 16th and will face No. 1 overall seed Duke in an NCAA Tournament East Region First Round matchup Thursday at 2:50 p.m. at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina.
