Siena Men's Golf opened its spring season with a strong showing Monday at the Sacred Heart Spring Break Invite, sitting tied for second place after two rounds at Eagle Harbor Golf Club in Orange Park, FL. The Saints posted rounds of 297 and 291 for a 36-hole total of 588 (+12) and will enter Tuesday's final round just seven strokes behind tournament leader Manhattan (581, +5).
Siena's second-round 291 marked one of the best team rounds of the day and helped the Saints climb the leaderboard heading into the final 18 holes.
Leading the charge for Siena were
Michael McConie and
Michael Broeker, who are both tied for sixth place individually with even-par totals of 144 through two rounds. McConie carded rounds of 70 and 74, while Broeker delivered one of the day's best performances with a five-under 67 in round two after opening with a 77.
KC Nickel and
Gavin Crowley are also inside the top 25, each tied for 20th place at 150 (+6). Nickel posted rounds of 76 and 74, while Crowley recorded scores of 74 and 76. The Saints also saw contributions from
Connor Kiel (+16).
As a team, Siena matched the tournament lead with 24 birdies through two rounds, highlighted by Broeker's nine birdies and McConie's seven.
The final round of the Sacred Heart Spring Break Invite will be played Tuesday at Eagle Harbor Golf Club.
