LOUDONVILLE, NY – Home sweet home. Following multiple postponements, cancellations, and venue changes, Siena Baseball made the most of its long-awaited 2026 Connors Park debut Friday.
Aidan Paradine totaled five hits and five RBI and the Saints produced arguably their two best pitching performances of the season to bounce back with a series-opening doubleheader sweep of Mount St. Mary's. Siena took Game One 7-1 and the nightcap 3-2.
Â
Game One: Siena 7, Mount St. Mary's 1
Paradine registered three hits and four RBI and
Sam Falace spun six strong innings as Siena (9-17, 5-9) took the opener.
Â
Paradine opened the scoring with a two-out, two-run double in the third, before adding another RBI two-bagger in the fifth. The red-shirt sophomore catcher then capped a three-run seventh with a run-scoring single for his 100
th collegiate hit.
Â
Falace did the rest, allowing just three hits and one unearned run while totaling four walks and four strikeouts to earn his first career win.
Ryan Lundari went the final three shutout frames with three strikeouts to secure the save.
Â
Matt Thorsen and
Gavin Thorburn each added a pair of hits and runs scored apiece for the Saints which snapped a five-game losing streak and span where they had dropped nine of their previous 10.
Â
Game Two: Siena 3, Mount St. Mary's 2
Vincent Venditti delivered the go-ahead RBI double in the home half of the seventh to propel Siena to the doubleheader sweep.
Â
Tyler Sausville finished with the upper hand in a pitchers duel, going seven solid innings with seven strikeouts to earn the victory.
Â
Venditti and Paradine each produced RBI singles to give the Saints a 2-1 lead in the fifth and, after Mount (12-15, 6-8) rallied to tie in the next half inning, Venditti responded with the decisive swing.
Â
Venditti, who finished with a game-high three hits and pair of RBI, went the other way down the right field line for extra bases, chasing home Thorburn all the way from first with what proved to be the winning run.
Â
Mount St. Mary's threatened in the ninth, but Paradine cut down the potential tying run trying to steal third for a huge second out of the inning.
Â
Mount has now dropped seven of their last nine. However, Mount St. Mary's doubled their road loss total for the season, after having entered the day a stellar 7-2 in road games.
Â
Siena will look to complete its first three-game weekend series sweep of the season Saturday at noon.
