LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Baseball wrapped up its 2026 Connors Park schedule on a high note with an 8-1 victory over Iona in a vital Mother's Day and Senior Day rubber game.
Â
Winners of 10 of their last 14 overall – including three straight Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference series victories – Siena (20-27, 12-15) continues to make a late postseason push. The Saints will enter the final week of the regular season two games back of both Canisius – whom they finish with – and Quinnipiac for the sixth and final MAAC Tournament spot with just three games remaining.                                                                                       Â
Â
A five-run third was more than enough offense for the red-hot
Gio Conte and company. The Saints batted around with five hits in the frame, punctuated by a two-run home run from
Aidan Paradine.
Â
Conte combined with seniors
Tyler Sausville and
Richie Paltridge on a three-hitter to win his fourth straight start. During that stretch, Conte has allowed just two earned runs on only nine hits spanning 21 spectacular innings.
Â
The burgeoning Siena offense finished with 13 hits – five of which went for extra bases – as the Saints improved to 25-11 (.694) at home vs. Iona (17-27, 13-13) this century. Senior
Sean Camacho led the way with three hits and stole a pair of bases, while three others added a pair of hits apiece.
Â
Jordan Overton homered to provide the lone offense for the Gaels which have dropped nine of 12 to fade a half-game back of both the Golden Griffins and Bobcats.
Â
With the victory, Siena has achieved consecutive 20-win campaigns for the first time since accomplishing the feat for six consecutive seasons from 2013-18. Moreover, the Saints finish with 11 wins at Connors Park, equaling (2010, 2011, 2018, 2021) their highest total in 18 years since winning 16 home games back in 2008.
Â
But it all comes down to next week in Buffalo for Siena. The Saints wrap up the regular season at Canisius, likely needing both a sweep as well as a fair amount of help if they wish to qualify for postseason play for the second year in a row. The decisive three-game series begins Wednesday at 3 p.m.
