Thomas Zwirecki hit a grand slam to cap a seven-run second inning as Canisius completed the series sweep of Siena Baseball 10-0 in seven innings in Buffalo.
Canisius (21-25, 17-13) sent 10 men to the plate during the decisive frame as they decreased their magic number to just one to clinch a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament berth. The Golden Griffins will now scoreboard watch as they need Quinnipiac to lose only one of its three games this weekend against Merrimack to punch their ticket to the postseason.
Zwirecki finished with five RBI overall for Canisius which has claimed 14 of the past 16 matchups in the series.
Five different Siena (20-30, 12-18) batters registered one hit apiece. The Saints worked nine walks, but stranded 13 batters over seven innings as their season came to a close.
Siena completes its 2026 campaign with back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time since accomplishing the feat six consecutive times from 2013-18. Moreover, the Saints finished with 11 wins at Connors Park this spring, equaling (2010, 2011, 2018, 2021) their highest total in 18 years since winning 16 home games back in 2008.
