Siena Men's Soccer battled back to even the score in the second half, but Boston College responded with two late goals to hand the Saints a 3-1 setback Sunday evening at Newton Campus Field.
 
Siena falls to 1-1-0 on the season, while Boston College improves to 2-0-0. The Saints finished with 10 shots, including five on target, while Boston College recorded 14 shots with seven finding the frame.
 
Boston College struck first in the 16th minute when Michael Asare finished off a Bryan Toro assist to give the Eagles a 1-0 advantage. Siena continued to generate opportunities throughout the opening half, with Antonio Vicente and Bruno Osaro each putting shots toward goal. Jacob Humienny also forced a save from Boston College goalkeeper Andrej Borak in the 32nd minute, while Lucas Almeida nearly leveled the match just before halftime with a shot that was turned aside.
 
The Saints carried that pressure into the second half. Vicente tested Borak early in the period, while Siena continued to push forward in search of the equalizer.
 
That breakthrough came in the 72nd minute.
 
Almeida found the back of the net for his second goal of the season, bringing Siena level at 1-1 and briefly shifting the momentum in the Saints' favor.
 
Boston College, however, answered just under five minutes later. Toro scored in the 77th minute off an assist from Fynn Henze to put the Eagles back in front, 2-1.
 
Siena continued to battle for another equalizer, with Osaro forcing another save from Borak in the 74th minute and Vicente adding another attempt in the closing minutes. Goalkeeper Bennet Glinder also kept the Saints within striking distance, making three saves on the afternoon, including a pair in the final 25 minutes.
 
Boston College ultimately put the match out of reach in the 90th minute when Russell Brown scored off an assist from Asare to make it 3-1.
 
Almeida led Siena offensively with two shots on goal, including his second goal of the season, while Vicente added three shots with one on target. Osaro also recorded three shots, including one on goal.
 
Siena returns home Monday, Aug. 31 when it hosts Northeastern at Hickey Field. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. ET.
