Biography

2022 (GRADUATE STUDENT):
  • MAAC Academic Honor Roll member
  • Made two appearances out of the pen
  • Recorded 1.2 innings of work with one strikeout
2021 (GRADUATE STUDENT):
  • MAAC Academic Honor Roll member
  • Made nine appearances on the mound, including eight out of the pen
  • Held a 12.66 ERA with an 0-2 record and one save over 10.2 innings
  • Struck out 16 batters while issuing only six walks
  • Earned a save in his Siena debut, throwing two-thirds of an inning of scoreless ball against Iona on March 21
  • Tossed a season-high five strikeouts in two innings against Iona on March 22
2020 (REDSHIRT-JUNIOR AT VCU):
  • Made five appearances out of the bullpen
  • Threw 8.0 innings, fanning eight
  • Held a 6.75 ERA and an 0-1 record
2019 (JUNIOR AT VCU):
  • Redshirted
2018 (SOPHOMORE AT UMASS):
  • Went 2-1 with two saves and compiled a 4.35 ERA 
  • Worked three innings of one-run ball in the second game of a doubleheader against Rhode Island, posting four strikeouts
  • Picked first win of the season in a walk-off victory over URI
  • Fanned four and walked one batter in 1.1 innings at Richmond
  • Logged his first collegiate save against Central Connecticut allowing only one hit in one inning
2017 (FRESHMAN AT UMASS):
  • Made 10 appearances with one start, pitching 21.2 innings
  • Started pitching three innings at Harvard, striking our four batters
  • Pitched four innings at George Washington where he posted three strikeouts
BEFORE COLLEGE:
  • Led team to win Section II Title as a junior at The Albany Academy in 2015 
  • Won the conference regular season two years straight in 2015 and 2016
  • Named to the All-Colonial Conference Team in 2015 and the second All-Colonial Conference Team in 2016 in high school

  • Son of Larry Knapek and Lisa Marrello
  • Twin brother, Brooks, also played baseball at Siena
  • Father, Larry, played baseball and basketball at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts
  • Earned a bachelor's degree from VCU in 2020 and is currently pursuing his MBA
