Rebecca Sanger
Director of Student Athlete Health & Performance/Head Athletic Trainer
Rebecca Sanger joined Siena Athletics as the Director of Student Athlete Performance/Head Athletic Trainer in October 2023. No stranger to the Capital Region or collegiate athletics, Sanger brings valuable experience to lead the athletic training staff in Loudonville.
Sanger oversees Siena’s athletic training staff and all day-to-day efforts in The George ’54 and Sally Maloney Sports Medicine Suite with the athletic department’s 360 student athletes.
Sanger joined Siena after spending seven years as an Assistant Athletic Trainer across town at the University at Albany from 2016-23, where she worked primarily with the Great Danes’ men’s and women’s basketball programs.
Prior to her experience in the Capital Region, Sanger served as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at the University of Maine from 2014-16, working primarily with the Black Bears’ women’s hockey, women’s soccer, and softball programs. She began her postgraduate career in collegiate athletics at the University of West Virginia as a Graduate Assistant from 2011-13 for both the Mountaineers and at HealthWorks Rehab and Fitness before serving as an Intern Athletic Trainer at Binghamton University during the 2013-14 year.
A native of Long Beach, New York, Sanger earned her B.S. in Education from the University of Connecticut in 2011, where she spent her final two-and-a-half years as an Undergraduate Athletic Training Student. She went on to receive her M.S. in Athletic Training from West Virginia in 2013.
Caitlin Moeller
Assistant Athletic Trainer
Caitlin Moeller joined Siena's sports medicine staff as an Assistant Athletic Trainer in August 2021. She serves as the primary athletic training contact for the Saints' women's basketball, softball, and cross country & track programs.
Moeller joined Siena after spending the last two-and-a-half years across town as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Russell Sage College in Albany. She worked with Russell Sage's 19 NCAA Division III sports teams while also serving as an adjunct professor within the School of Education.
Moeller served as an Athletic Trainer at Georgia College in Milledgeville, Georgia from 2016-19, and previously worked on the athletic training staffs at Colorado State – Pueblo from August 2015 – May 2016 and at the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs as a Graduate Assistant during the 2014-15 season. She served as an athletic trainer for the New York Shockers semi-professional soccer team during its 2021 season as well.
A member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association, she holds certification from the NATA, the American Heart Association as a Basic Life Support Provider, the American Red Cross as a professional rescuer with CPR and AED certification as well as standard first aid.
A native of Kingston, NY, Moeller is a 2014 graduate of The College at Brockport in Brockport, NY, with a bachelor's degree in athletic training & kinesiology, and earned her Master's in Sports Medicine from UCCS in 2016. She was a four-year member of the women's track & field program at Brockport as a mid-distance runner.
Trevor DiMauro
Assistant Athletic Trainer
Trevor DiMauro joined Siena Athletics as an Assistant Athletic Trainer on June 1, 2022.
DiMauro came to the Capital Region from Missouri Western State University in Saint Joseph, MO, where he spent the past two years as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer. The primary contact for the Griffons' Men's Basketball program, he provided coverage for several other NCAA Division II sports, while providing sports medicine coverage for several youth camps, the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Tournament, and the 2021 NCAA Division II Men's Regional Basketball Tournament.
A native of Omaha, Nebraska, DiMauro gained athletic training experience at the NCAA Division I level while a student at the University of Nebraska. He worked with the Cornhuskers' Men's Basketball program during his senior year, and the Football team during his junior year, working alongside certified athletic trainers to assist in evaluating, treating, and providing rehabilitation for injuries.
DiMauro earned his B.S. in Athletic Training with minors in Business and Psychology from Nebraska in 2020, and earned his Master of Applied Science in Sport and Fitness Management from Missouri Western in May 2022.
Erik Lindstrom
Assistant Athletic Trainer
Siena Athletics completed the hiring of its athletic training staff for the 2022-23 season with the addition of Erik Lindstrom. No stranger to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), Lindstrom joins the Saints after having served as an athletic trainer at conference counterpart Saint Peter's.
"We are very fortunate to have Erik joining the Saints family," Senior Associate AD / Senior Woman Administrator Angie Jabir said. "He is a familiar face for many of our coaches and staff having been at Saint Peter's for the past 14 years. Erik's excellent care for his student-athletes and professionalism will be a great addition as we strive to Build Better Saints."
Lindstrom joins Siena after serving as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Saint Peter's for the past 14 years, including a stint as the Interim Head Athletic Trainer from July to August of 2021. While in Jersey City, he assisted in providing daily athletic training coverage to approximately 250 student athletes across 16 different sports. He also served as an Approved Clinical Instructor for the Seton Hall Athletic Training Education Program from 2008-18.
Prior to his time at SPU, Lindstrom served as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Felician College in Rutherford, New Jersey from 2005-08, serving as the Interim Head Athletic Trainer from February to June of 2008. He previously worked as a Graduate Assistant at Wagner College, providing coverage for the volleyball, wrestling, men's lacrosse, and baseball programs.
Lindstrom earned his B.A. in Physical Education with a concentration in Athletic Training from Kean University in 2004, while working with Kean's football, men's lacrosse, men's basketball, and women's basketball teams. He was also an Athletic Training Student Intern for the New York Giants in 2003.
Emily Gulitti
Assistant Athletic Trainer
Siena Athletics named Emily Gulitti to its Sports Medicine staff as an Assistant Athletic Trainer in January of 2025.
Gulitti is the primary athletic trainer contact for the Saints’ men’s soccer and men’s lacrosse programs.
"I am excited to bring in Emily to our sports medicine staff,” said Siena Director Student-Athlete Performance and head athletic trainer Rebecca Sanger.
“With her familiarity with the Capital Region, eagerness to start working with our teams, and the variety of experience she has had previous to here; I believe she will have a positive impact on our student athletes at Siena College!”
Previously, Gulitti served as the athletic trainer for the Schenectady School District and provided medical care for all practices and games for the football, soccer, tennis, cross country and volleyball teams. In addition, Gulitti was also an athletic trainer at the College of Saint Rose, providing treatment to volleyball, men’s basketball, and women’s lacrosse teams.
“The opportunity to be back in collegiate athletics and working with college athletes were the reasons I was interested in the position,” said Gulitti. “I look forward to working with the athletic trainers and providing care for the athletes.”
Prior to that, she served as an athletic trainer for Troy High School and took directive to order all medical materials for the school year that included tape, first aid supplies and therapeutic modalities.
Gulitti holds a Master’s of Science degree in athletic training from Plymouth State University in New Hampshire and also is a graduate of the State University of New York at Potsdam with a B.S. in Exercise Science and a minor in community health.
She currently resides in Troy with her two cats, Suna and Rosie.
Dr. Hamish Kerr
Team Physician
Dr. Hamish Kerr is a board certified sports medicine specialist. He is the head team physician for Siena College, and has been working with the Siena College Athletic program since 2008.
Dr. Kerr is the Sports Medicine Fellowship Director for Albany Medical Center and sees patients both in Latham and at Capital Region Orthopedics in Albany.
Dr. Kerr received his medical degree from the University of Glasgow, Scotland. He completed residency training in combined internal medicine/pediatrics at Albany Medical College and primary care sports medicine fellowship training at the Harvard Medical School program at Children's Hospital in Boston.
Dr. Kerr is a member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is also the Chair of the US Rugby Sports Medicine Committee and serves US Rugby Sevens and the US Olympic Committee as a team physician.
Dr. Rick Alfred
Orthopaedic Consultant
Dr. Richard H. Alfred is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon, specializing in sports medicine.
Dr. Alfred received his medical degree from Albany Medical College in 1981. Dr. Alfred's postgraduate work included a fellowship in sports medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. His orthopaedic surgery residency was done at Albany Medical Center Hospital. He was a junior resident in General Surgery and Orthopaedic Surgery at Albany Medical Center Hospital. Dr. Alfred joined Capital Region Orthopaedics in 1988.
Dr. Alfred sees patients at the Albany, Latham, and Saratoga offices.
Dr. Joseph Zimmerman
Orthopaedic Consultant
Dr. Joseph Zimmerman is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon, specializing in sports medicine and adult reconstructive surgery.
Dr. Zimmerman received his undergraduate degree at Siena College, where he was also a four year member of the Siena College Rugby Team. He received his medical degree from Albany Medical College in 2011. His orthopaedic surgery residency was completed at Albany Medical Center Hospital.
Dr. Zimmerman completed a fellowship in sport medicine at the UHZ Sports Medicine Institute in Miami, Florida, where he served as an assistant team physician for the Miami Dolphins, Miami Heat, and Florida International University.
Dr. Zimmerman sees patients at the Albany, Latham, and Malta offices.
Dr. Deborah Light
Team Physician
Dr. Deborah Light is board certified in Sports Medicine, Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. She is a team physician with Siena College, and has been involved with the athletics program since 2012. Dr. Light is a faculty member for the Sports Medicine Fellowship and the Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency at Albany Medical Center. She sees patients in Latham.
Dr. Light received her medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. She completed both her residency training in combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, as well as her Primary Care Sports Medicine fellowship at Albany Medical College.
Dr. Light is a member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and the American College of Sports Medicine. She is a member of the USA Boxing Medical Commission, and serves as a physician for USA Boxing and the US Olympic Committee.
