Saints in the Pros

The Siena College Baseball program has proven to be a top breeding ground for professional baseball prospects in the Northeast. Siena has developed 56 players who have gone on to sign professional baseball contracts, including 38 who have inked with Major League Baseball organizations. Siena has boasted 26 MLB Draft picks - including 18 since 1996 - and five top-10 Round selections overall.

Following Brendan White's draft selection by the Detroit Tigers in the 26th Round of the 2019 Major League Baseball Draft, a total of four former Saints are currently playing professional baseball including two - White (Detroit Tigers) and Matt Gage (Houston Astros) - who are currently pitching in the Majors.

A total of six Siena Baseball greats have ultimately reached the highest level and made it to "The Show," with the most recent being White who was called up by the Tigers on May 3, 2023. Just a year earlier, Gage made his MLB debut in 2022, pitching in 11 games with the Toronto Blue Jays, before joining the Houston Astros' staff in 2023. John Lannan holds a program-record eight years of Major League Baseball service pitching for the Washington Nationals (2007-12), Philadelphia Phillies (2013), and New York Mets (2014). Billy Harrell was the first Siena Baseball player to reach "The Show," playing parts of four seasons with the Cleveland Indians (1955, 1957-58) and Boston Red Sox (1961). Gary Holle appeared in five games with the Texas Rangers in 1979, and Tim Christman made one appearance with the Colorado Rockies in 2001.
