Head Coach Jamion Christian announced the addition of Anthony (A.J.) Register to the Siena Men’s Basketball coaching staff as Special Assistant to the Head Coach.
Register comes to Siena after working the last three years as the Men’s Junior Varsity Basketball Assistant Coach at Montverde Academy, where he helped plan practices, prepared scouting reports, and was responsible for player development. His team won a 2018 National Championship at the GEICO Nationals, finishing with a perfect 35-0 undefeated record on the season.
“He brings a wealth of experience. He’s done so many roles at his stops, even at Alabama as a manager and UCF as an operations guys and he did video there. He’s just done so many different things.”
Prior to Montverde, Register held the Director of Operations and Video Coordinator position at the University of Central Florida, where he also spent time as a graduate assistant. At UCF, he helped organize all travel for road games, scheduled community service events for the team, and helped prepare video playbooks. Prior to that, Register was a four-year student manager at the University of Alabama, where he helped the day-to-day operations of the program.
“I like being around people who have the ability to do a lot of things well, and AJ does that. I’m looking forward to having him work closely with me on our game planning and understanding the MAAC as it grows and as we learn about it. His ability to use data and analytics to be able to grow our program, we felt he was an important piece for that and help us grow. Plus I love spending time with the guy each and every day.
Register graduated from Central Florida in May of 2016 with a master’s in career and technical education. He earned his bachelor’s degree in May of 2014 from Alabama, majoring in marketing in the Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration.
