COACH ROSSI ON HAMEL:

• “Matt received a good amount of playing time in the outfield last season, which can only be helpful coming into this year. He hit .279 with a late year splurge, and needs to get out of the gate quickly this year to be a force. He is versatile and can spell people in the outfield and in the infield. His versatility will enable the staff to make position switches.”

2019 (SENIOR):

• Played in 46 games with 40 appearances and 147 at-bats
• Held a .211 batting average with 31 hits, 15 runs, five doubles, three home runs, and 20 RBI
• Slugged .306 with a .296 on-base percentage
• Made a team-high 166 defensive putouts
• Recorded six multi-hit outings

2018 (JUNIOR):

• Played in all 56 games, making 53 starts
• Scored 19 runs on 46 hits, including six doubles, two triples and two home runs
• Batted .279 with 22 RBI and a .376 slugging percentage
• Went 6-8 on stolen base attempts
• Ranked third on the team with 125 putouts
• Recorded 11 multi-hit and five multi-RBI performances
• Went 2-2 with a runs scored and a season-high three RBI at Wofford on March 18

2017 (SOPHOMORE):

• Saw action in 32 games (13 starts), primarily seeing action at second base
• Homered and drove in a pair of runs at Murray State (Mar. 4)
• Recorded season-high three hits and stole a base at Murray State (Mar. 5)
• Added multi-hit performances at Davidson (Mar. 11) and vs. Fordham (Apr. 11)

• Appeared in 36 games, making 29 starts between the infield and outfield
• Recorded four multi-hit and a pair of multiple RBI efforts
• Reached base safely in all six plate appearances, going 2-for-3 with three walks, three runs scored and three RBI in win at George Mason (Mar. 13)
• Tallied season-high three hits in extra-innings win at Army West Point (Mar. 29)

• Lettered in baseball, basketball and football at CBA
• Three-time Section II All-Star in baseball
• Helped CBA to the Section II finals as a junior in 2014
• Was a two-time Section II All-Star in football and Section II champion as a senior in basketball.
• 2014-2015 Top Student Athlete among independent schools, and WNYT (NBC) Capital Region Athlete of the Week
