Mike Demos enters his 20th season in the Siena Athletic Department in 2025-26. Demos was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Communications on Feb. 15, 2016.
Named one of the top NCAA Division I Assistant Athletic Directors by Silver Waves Media in January 2021, Demos oversees the athletic communications office which includes the media and event coverage, publicity, and promotional efforts for the department's 21 Division I programs and more than 350 student athletes. Additionally, he coordinates and manages the department's external communications, digital assets, and social media platforms, maintains the department website (SienaSaints.com), and oversees the production of live athletic event coverage through ESPN's streaming platform and Siena All-Access. Specifically, Demos serves as the primary athletic communications contact for the men's basketball, women's soccer, and baseball programs.
"Mike has worked extremely hard and very collaboratively during his 10 years with the department," said Siena Vice President and Director of Athletics John D'Argenio upon Demos' promotion. "During that time, he has developed the skills and temperament that will serve him well in his new role. I'm confident that he will shine in his new job, and continue to present Siena's athletes and teams in a positive way."
Demos was previously a member of both the Siena Council of Administrators Executive Committee (2017-23) and the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Baseball Committee (2016-23). He also served as the assistant media coordinator for the 2024 NCAA Women's Baskeball Albany Super Regional, the 2023 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament First and Second Rounds in Albany, both the 2018 and 2019 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament Albany Regional, and as the host school media coordinator for the four most recent MAAC Men's and Women's Basketball Championships held in Albany (2016-19). Demos and several of his colleagues were honored with a Siena Presidential Award for Excellence for their outstanding efforts in the success of the 2024 NCAA Women's Basketball Albany Super Regional.
Demos has also been both a panelist and moderator at multiple CSC (College Sports Communicators) - formerly CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) - and ECAC-COMM (Eastern Athletic Communications Association) - formerly ECAC-SIDA conventions, and was a member of the local organizing committee for the 2014 ECAC-SIDA held in nearby Troy.
Demos was named a 2021-22 CoSIDA Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest District 1 Regional Runner-Up in the "Event Coverage" category for his game recap of the 2021 Siena Women's Soccer MAAC Championship Match. He was also honored as a Siena College "Saints Among Us" award recipient in February 2020. Demos was a finalist for both the Siena 2024 James Knust Excellence in Administration and Founding Friars Awards.
The Siena Athletic Communications Department has also received recognition during Demos' tenure from the Education Digital Marketing Awards. In 2021, the athletic communications department earned a "Gold Award" in the category of "Digital Video: Over 2 Minutes," and took home a "Silver Award" for "Social Media Content – Campaign." Siena Athletic Communications was also previously named a "Gold" Winner for the November 2016 redesign of SienaSaints.com.
Demos first joined the Siena Athletic Department in September 2006, and served as the full-time athletic communications assistant from October 2010 until his promotion. From 2010-16 he oversaw the athletic communications, media relations, and promotional initiatives while serving as the primary media contact for the women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's lacrosse, and cross country programs. Additional duties included the supervision of the department's multimedia intern, coordination and oversight of student workers, and a leadership role in the implementation of the athletic department's "Saints in the Community" program.
For his first 10 years at Siena, Demos also served as the play-by-play broadcaster for the women's basketball program in addition to announcing numerous other Siena Athletic events. Demos first joined Siena Athletics as a marketing intern, and also spent time working as a group sales associate and summer camp coordinator prior to joining the athletic communications staff exclusively.
