Sports communications professional Peter Holehan joined Siena Athletics in January 2023.

Holehan serves as the primary athletic communications contact for the Saints' men’s and women’s lacrosse, men’s and women’s tennis, men's and women's cross country and track & field and women’s volleyball teams and acts as a secondary contact for the women’s basketball team.

For the 2023-2024 school year, Holehan was honored by the College of Sports Communicators (CSC) as a Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest Runner-Up Winner for District 1 in the category of Event Coverage for the University Division.  The coverage was on the Siena Men's Tennis team's 2023 MAAC Championship.

Previously, Holehan served as the Director of Communications for the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), and as sports information director for Historically Black College and University (HBCU) Alabama State and as a SID assistant for SUNY Potsdam.

Of note, he succeeded in boosting the conference’s social media presence by a combined 16,000 followers and likes on the Twitter, Facebook and Instagram platforms, orchestrated a website redesign launch that saw nearly two million page views in a nine-month span and coordinated all aspects of numerous media and business events such as the SWAC Football Media Day and the SWAC Football and Basketball Championship events that took place at the Mercedes-Benz Dome in Atlanta, Ga. and the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

Prior to that, he was a 10-year sports journalist with the South Florida Sun-Sentinel newspaper (then a top 35 in circulation newspaper in the U.S.) where he covered over 30 sports at all levels, wrote over 1,500 articles and was an award-winning journalist for his coverage of the Special Olympics (Media Organization of the Year Award for the state of Florida) and a Sunshine Award winner in Breaking Sports Reporting from the Society of Professional Journalists. Locally, he was a sportswriter for the Post-Star newspaper in Glens Falls and freelanced for the Times-Union in Albany.

Holehan has experience covering lacrosse at SUNY Potsdam as well as the high school level where it is state sanctioned in Florida.  He’s also served as a media liaison for the U.S. Tennis Association (USTA) National Wheelchair Hard Court Tennis Championships and served as a freelance writer covering the Miami Open and the Delray Beach Open.

As the main sports information contact for Alabama State women’s volleyball, he chronicled two SWAC Championship runs and two NCAA Tournament appearances.

A native of Utica, N.Y., Holehan earned his Bachelors of Science in Journalism and Public Relations from Utica College (now known as Utica University).

He resides in Saratoga Springs.
