LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - In a game decided in dramatic overtime fashion, the Siena College women's field hockey team (3-6 Overall/3-4 NEC) defeated Rider University (6-4 Overall/5-2 NEC) in Northeast Conference action at Saints Field today, 2-1.
Sophomore Lacee Iselo (Rome, N.Y./Holland Patent) scored twice for the Saints, including the thrilling goal with one second left in overtime, to win a tight game for Siena. The win extends the Saints home winning streak to three.
Iselo and the green and gold struck first in the second period, after a scoreless first half. Iselo scored on a pass from fellow sophomore Michelle Dorscheid (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield) with 28 minutes left in the second half.
Rider's Christina Ang scored six minutes later to tie the game on a pass from Brenna Hanrahan.
With the clock winding down to the final seconds of the first overtime, Iselo ran down the field and knocked a hard hit ball into the back of the goal for the Saints win. Last season, the game with the Broncs was almost identical, with the win going to Rider.
The Saints will return again tomorrow to face Monmouth with action beginning at 1pm in Loudonville.
