Field Hockey Posts 4-2 win in NEC Debut

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y.-Sophomores Lacee Iselo (Rome, N.Y./Holland Patent) and Ashley Smaldon (Rome, N.Y./Rome Free Academy) scored two goals a piece Monday afternoon, leading the Saints' Field Hockey team (1-2/1-0 NEC) to a 4-2 win over St. Francis (Pa.) (0-4/0-1 NEC) in their first conference game of the season.

The Saints put up their first goal of the year with 31:58 remaining in the first half, as Smaldon scored off an assist from Erin Mead (Chestertown, N.Y./North Warren). Three minutes after that goal, Erin Mead found Iselo for her first tally.

For Siena, Smaldon scored unassisted in the second half with 31 minutes left, before Kate Arduini struck back for the Red Flash off a hard rush with 6:50 to go. Iselo, responded and put the game away, finding the back of the cage at 3:02 off an assist from Michelle Dorscheid (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield) accounting for the final 4-2 margin.

The Saints gave Head Coach Lynda Lareau her first career. Siena hits the road this weekend for a pair of games in the Garden State. The Saints take on conference foes Monmouth and Rider on Saturday and Sunday respectively. Siena will return to Loudonville on Wednesday, September 26 for a 4:00 p.m. showdown with the University of Maryland-Baltimore County.
