Vermont Uses Second-Half Surge to Top Siena

March 27, 2002

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - Vermont scored four goals in a row to open the second half and went on to a 12-5 victory over Siena Wednesday night at Union College. The win was Vermont's (3-4) second in a row, while the Saints fell to 1-2.

Siena led for a majority of the first half but the Catamounts scored late in the second quarter to tie the game at two going into halftime. Vermont opened the second half on a 7-1 run to break the game open.

Phil McKnight led the victors with three goals and an assist. R.J. Harrison added two goals and two assists while Doug Moses and Myles Jewell each scored twice.

Peter Green (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) scored twice for the Saints while both Tom Nally (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) and Jeff Serge (Albany, N.Y./Colonie) both had a goal and an assist.

Siena opens play in the MAAC on Saturday against Providence. Faceoff on the Siena campus is set for 3:00 p.m.
