Siena College field hockey goalie Kristen Heyde assumed the all-time lead in career saves during Sunday's loss at Fairfield. Heyde surpassed Beth Ann Flemming '94 and currently has 456 career stops.
Heyde has appeared in 59 games in her four-year career--the most by any goalie in school history. In each of her four seasons with the Saints, she has ranked nationally in total saves.
"Kristen has had a tremendous career, and certainly deserves this record," Head Coach Lynda Lareau said. "She has raised the bar for the players in our program, and the goalies who will follow in her footsteps."
The senior captain from Somers, NY has started in the cage since her freshman season.
Heyde and the Saints return to NEC action Friday at 4 p.m. against St. Francis (NY).
