Sophomore Shanna Allen has been named to the MAAC Water Polo Second Team according to the conference office. The award marks the second consecutive Second Team distinction for Allen who has led Siena in scoring in each of her two years with the program. Classmate Erica Strein was selected to the MAAC All-Academic Team.
Allen led the team with 24 goals this season, helping Siena to a program-best two victories. Allen notched a season-high seven goals in the Saints home-opening 15-4 triumph over Utica College April 4 and scored two goals or more five times. The Mechanicsburgh, Pa. native (Cumberland Valley) was the first recruit to sign with the program now in its third year of existence.
Strein holds a 3.22 grade point average as an undecided business major. She finished second on the team in scoring this season. A native of Homewood, Ill., Strein attended Homewood-Flossmoor High School. To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student athlete must complete two semesters at their institution, be a significant starter or reserve and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.
