Women's Tennis Begins MAAC Play With Sweep of Rider

Siena won all six singles matches, and swept the doubles competition in a 7-0 sweep of Rider to open its MAAC season Saturday afternoon in Lawrenceville. Freshman Sarah Mayer won her match over Tanya Cota 6-0 and 6-0 at top singles.

The Saints received strong contributions up and down their roster. Taylor Barvoets, Denisa Hluchova, Karina Davis, Julia Lebedev and Meghan Slenkamp each posted singles wins. Mayer teamed with Barvoets to win the top doubles match, Hluchova and Davis took second doubles and Slenkamp and Sugam Langer completed the sweep with an 8-4 win at third doubles.

Freshman Jessica Ferrara played her first exhibition match of the season and won 8-3 over Kelly-Ann Chouinard for the Saints. Ferrara had been sidelined with a sprained ankle since the beginning of the season.
