Albany, N.Y. - Siena bounced back from its first defeat of the season in style Sunday, knocking off MAAC rival Fairfield in a non-conference match to complete the UAlbany Invitational. The Saints defeated Monmouth, but lost to Albany in the first day of competition yesterday.
The Saints won all six singles matches in straight sets, and dominated doubles play to account for the sweep. Freshman Sarah Mayer, sophomore Taylor Barvoets and senior Denisa Hluchova won at the top three singles spots, and Karina Davis, Julia Lebedev and Meghan Slenkamp took positions 4-6. Lebedev won her match 6-0 and 6-0 after sitting out yesterday's match with UAlbany.
