Final Stats

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - The Siena women's basketball team (9-10, 5-5) kept on rolling at the Alumni Recreation Center with a 76-68 victory over the Saint Peter's Peahens (7-12, 3-7) in front of 1,508 fans. Shondaya Burrell followed up her 8-for-8 performance with career-high's in scoring and rebounding.

"Teams have to defend their home floor and that is what we have been doing all season," stated head coach Gina Castelli. "It was a physical battle out there today with neither team backing down, this was a good win for us."

Trailing 55-49 with 11:47 left on the clock, the Saints reeled off a 12-3 run to retake the lead for the final time. The Peahens knotted up the game at 64 but the Saints put together a 12-2 run to build their largest lead of the game, 76-66.

Shondaya Burrell continued her torrid shooting as she had not missed a shot since December 22, a span of eight games. Burrell came in having hit nine straight and opened up hitting on her first three shots before her streak was snapped with a rare misfire. Burrell set a program record with 12 straight field goals without a miss. The Albany native went 7-for-14 from the field en route to a career-high 21 points and six rebounds.

"Shondaya is relentless and has really found her stride this week," said Castelli. "She is a tenacious defender, a strong rebounder and the quickest player on our team. Her play this week shows that she is now comfortable and playing within herself, the confidence is overflowing."

Six Saints scored seven or more points in a well balanced game. Whitney Cave had 11 points and eight boards and Melissa Manzer chipped in eight points, seven rebounds and five assists including hitting all her free throws down the stretch (4-4).

For the second straight game the Saints got better than 30 points of bench production. 44 fouls were whistled in the game resulting in 48 combined free throws, Siena went 20-for-26 from the stripe. The Green and Gold hit 4-of-10 shots from the perimeter with Saint Peter's hitting on 7-of-12 opportunities.

The Saints wrap up this homestand with a Friday matchup against rival Marist at 7 p.m. The game will be televised on Time Warner Channel 3.
