LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena's Kristin McGorty (Wappingers Falls, N.Y./John Jay) was named NEC Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference Monday. The award marks the forward's first Rookie of the Week nod of her career.

McGorty was the catalyst to the Saints' first victory of the season in a 4-0 shutout over Saint Francis (Pa.) on Friday. McGorty registered five points, including two goals and an assist. Both goals marked not only the first of the season, but the first of her Siena career as well.

McGorty lettered three years of varsity field hockey at John Jay high school, earning All-State, All-Section and All-League selections her junior and senior years. She was also a scholar-athlete throughout her entire four-year high school career.

The Saints return to action at Fairfield on Friday with a 4 p.m. start.
