Second Half Run Too Little Too Late

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Junior forward Laura Menty's (Wilbraham, Mass./Minnechaug) 20 second half points were not enough for Siena as they fell 79-67 to Bucknell at the Alumni Recreation Center this evening. Menty led the way for the Saints for the fifth time this season posting 25 points in the losing effort. Four Bison registered double-figures on the night. Kesha Champion, a junior guard, topped all Bucknell scorers with 17 points.

The Bison kicked off the contest recording a 14-0 run that was capped off by Hope Foster jumper at the 14:21 mark. Sarah Fullmer (Swansea, Mass./Joseph Case), a freshman center, ended the Saints scoring drought with a field goal just over six minutes into the game. Fullmer registered a career day tallying her first double-double wearing the Green and Gold (13 points, 11 rebounds).

Bucknell entered intermission with a 45-21 advantage. The Bison shot a blazing 60.7% from the field and 71.4% from beyond the arc in the first half.

The Saints were rejuvenated as they entered the second half. Menty posted the Saints first 12 points of the period. Just minutes later, freshman guard Merrick Volpe (Clyde, N.Y./Clyde-Savannah) cut the Bison lead to 13 with a lay-up at the 10:02 mark.

Bucknell posted their last field goal of the night with 3:59 remaining. The Saints capitalized scoring 17 points in the last 1:17 of play, behind three Katelyn Dooley (Troy, N.Y./Lansingburgh) 3-pointers cutting the lead to as few as 10 points.

Time ran out for the Saints as the Bison hit their free-throws down the stretch. With the win, Bucknell improves to 8-5 overall.

The Saints drop to 2-9 on the year and return to action on New Year 's Day when they round out the non-conference portion of the schedule at Vermont. Tip time is slated for 1 p.m.
