Loudonville, N.Y.- The Siena women's basketball team (10-12, 6-7) fell behind early and could not dig themselves out of the large lead they allowed the Iona Gaels (12-10, 9-4) to grab and lost 73-66 for only the third loss at home this season. In pre-game festivities, 15 local cancer survivors were introduced alongside both teams as part of raising breast cancer awareness at the ARC tonight.

Siena held a 16-13 advantage after a 3-pointer was drilled by Melissa Manzer at the 13:12 mark. Siena never regained the lead and were outscored 24-3 over the ensuing 11 and a half minutes. The Saints mounted a strong comeback to close out the half as they cut the lead to eight behind a 10-0 run.

The Green and Gold got to as close as 67-63 after a Katelyn Dooley trey splashed through the net. However, the Gaels went 6-for-6 from the line down the stretch to seal the victory.

For the second time this season five Saints players tallied in double-figures, they are 0-2 this season when that happens. Dooley led the way for the Saints with a team-high 14 points on 4-of-10 shooting from downtown to go along with 3 steals. Laura Menty and off the bench Shondaya Burrell chipped in 13 points apiece. Manzer added 11 points and hit 3-of-7 shots from the perimeter.

Whitney Cave had her second consecutive double-double performance in the loss finishing with 11 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. The Portland, Ore., native now has six double-doubles on the season and 14 in her career.

Reigning MAAC Co-Player of the Week Tiara Headen had a game-high 24 points to go along with six boards in the win. Regan Pettijohn and Toni Horvath both contributed 12 points.

Siena wraps up the homestand on Sunday with a 3 p.m. tipoff against the Loyola Greyhounds. After that Siena hits the road to player Fairfield on Friday and Iona again on Sunday before returning home to host Canisius on February 23.
