Three of the six singles matches went to a third set and Quinnipiac won two of the three to pick up what turned out to be the decisive point in a 4-3 win over Siena in Hamden Monday. Sarah Mayer won a thrilling three-set decision at top singles for the Saints.
" I could not be more proud of the team's effort, conduct and performance in today's match with Quinnipiac," head coach Tim O'Brien said. "Both teams fought hard to the very end with the three three-set matches finishing within five minutes of each other. We took them to the wire and Quinnipiac has a very good team."
Julia Lebedev and Meghan Slenkamp also won singles matches for the Saints. Quinnipiac swept doubles play to pick up the doubles point.
