Final Stats
Albany, N.Y.- The Siena men's lacrosse team (0-2) fell short in a 14-9 loss at cross-town rival Albany this afternoon. Senior John Bamford made 15 saves against Inside Lacrosse's Media Poll's 19th ranked men's lacrosse program in the nation, Albany.
Siena was led in scoring by the tandem of senior Matt Walsh and freshman Chris Zarins, who each netted three goals. Zarins added two assists and Walsh setup another goal to bring their point totals to five and four respectively.
Junior Matt Donovan added two goals while Matt Girsh chipped in with the other Siena goal.
The Saints outshot the Great Danes in the second and third quarters en route to a tie in final shots at 32. Donovan and Girsh both fired at least 10 shots in the loss.
Siena twice stopped Albany in man-down situations and converted in 1-of-3 man-up opportunities, the lone conversion coming from Donovan in the third quarter.
Four Saints had four or more ground balls led by freshman Chris Viviano's seven.
Albany got multi-goal games from four players. Frank Resetarits led all scorers with six goals. Corey Small tallied three assists and a pair of goals for five points.
Siena is next in action on March 11 as they continue their road trip with a 1 p.m. game against Stony Brook in Long Island, N.Y.
