Nine Siena field hockey players were selected to the Northeast Conference fall academic honor roll and the entire team was the recipient of the National Academic Team Award as presented by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. Both organizations recently released the awards.
"This is a great achievement for our program and the student-athletes who were honored" head field hockey coach Lynda Lareau said. "It is something we strive for each year, and it is impressive to again be recognized among the top programs in the country in terms of academic performance."
Siena was one of 55 programs presented with the National Academic Team Award by the NFHCA. To be eligible, the cumulative team GPA must be over 3.0.
The NFHCA also recognized six Siena student athletes for their individual academic excellence. Sophomore Traci Baldwin (Niskayuna, N.Y.), junior Carly Demartis and sophomores Anne Linley, Alicia Reagan and Emily Winslow were all recognized.
Additionally, the NEC released its fall academic honor roll, honoring nine Saints. To be eligible for the NEC honor roll, a student athlete must be a sophomore or above and carry a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher. In addition to the six players who received NFHCA distinction, seniors Tricia Eldred, Jamie Moller, sophomore Meredith Borrell and sophomore Danielle Weill were recognized.
