Saints Blanked by Quinnipiac, 5-0

Kaitlyn Notarianni and Lauren Hartnett each scored two goals apiece as Quinnipiac defeated the Siena field hockey team 5-0 this afternoon in Hamden, Conn. in the Saints' final road game of the regular season. It marked the third straight game and fourth time in its last five contests that Siena (0-13, 0-4) failed to score a goal.

Quinnipiac (4-9, 2-2) scored four goals in a fifteen minute span midway through the first half to put the game away early. Notarianni and Hartnett accounted for all four of the tallies.

Siena's defense showed marked improvement in the second half, allowing the Bobcats only one additional goal despite 12 second half shot attempts. Hartnett assisted on the final goal to finish with a game-high five points for the afternoon, while Megan Sciascia added a pair of assists to round out the Quinnipiac offense.

The Saints tied a season-high registering seven shots, but the tandem of Jenna Grossman and Amanda Delouise combined to make two saves in recording the shutout. Andrea Caso notched a season-high three shots for the Saints which were edged in that category 20-7.

Siena returns to action Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. against Rider for the first of a four-game home stand to close out the 2008 regular season. Additionally, the game will be broadcast on SienaAllAccess.com with coverage beginning at 3:45 p.m. The video production can be purchased for a one-time fee of $8 or fans can purchase the fall package which includes broadcasts of each of the next three Siena field hockey home contests as well as any potential Northeast Conference Tournament matchups for just $24.95.
