LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Lock Haven received goals from six different players as the Lady Eagles handed the Siena field hockey team its most lopsided loss of the season, 8-0 this afternoon at Siena Turf Field in the Saints' conference finale. Siena falls to 1-15 overall and finishes conference play at 1-6.
Lock Haven (17-3, 7-0) got off to a quick start, scoring three goals in the first 10 minutes of action. The team's leading scorer Amy Hordendorf tallied each of the first two goals, with Jill Houtz adding the third.
The Lady Eagles would add a pair more goals before the half off the sticks of Mary Keister and Kristi Schepps. Schepps goal was a crowning blow to the Saints, coming with just six seconds remaining in the half.
The second stanza saw both teams going deep into their benches, with Lock Haven adding three more goals to the final tally. Keister joined Hordendorf as a multiple goal scorer, notching her second goal in the final half coming off a penalty stroke. Lock Haven had three penalty strokes in total, although Keister was the only player to cash in.
Carly Fry and Megan Armstrong accounted for the other tallies for Lock Haven as the NEC Regular Season Champions closed out the regular season with a perfect conference record.
Lock Haven shutout Siena in the shot department as well, harboring a 41-0 advantage, while also holding a 14-1 edge in short corners. Siena's senior goalie tandem of Renee Clavette and Jennifer Tesak combined to make 21 saves in goal.
The Saints return to action for their season finale on Sunday at 1 p.m. on Siena Turf Field against future conference foe Bryant. Prior to the game, the Saints will honor graduating seniors Rian Lively, Meghan Williams, Meredith Yund, Clavette and Tesak in a pregame ceremony beginning at 12:45.
