Final Stats
Nicole Savage and Michelle Simpson scored two goals apiece as UAlbany defeated the Siena (0-9) field hockey team 5-0 this afternoon in Albany, N.Y.
UAlbany (7-7) took a 3-0 lead into intermission thanks to a pair of tallies from Savage sandwiched around an Alysia Hough tally. The Great Danes took advantage of their penalty corner opportunities, scoring two of their first half goals on those situations.
Simpson added both of her goals in the second stanza as UAlbany recorded a shutout victory over the Saints for a fifth straight meeting.
UAlbany out-shot the Saints 39-2 and held a 19-1 advantage in penalty corners. Michele Polizois accounted for 13 shots for the Great Danes while adding two assists.
Siena's goalie tandem of Jennifer Tesak (nine saves) and Renee Clavette (four saves) were each solid again between the pipes.
The Saints return to action for the middle game of a busy three game week on Friday for the squad's conference opener at Robert Morris. Game time is 1 p.m.
