Final Stats
Ellen Herman and Katie Post combined for 26 kills to lead Ohio past Siena 3-0 (25-18, 25-22 and 25-14) on the opening day of play in the 2008 Syracuse Invitational. Senior captain led Kelly Hummel led the Saints with eight kills.
Siena, the three-time defending MAAC Champion, has lost six straight matches to start the year. This was the most lopsided defeat so far.
The Bobcats dominated the match statistically, controlling a .337 to .078 advantage in hitting percentage, a 45-22 edge in kills and a 34-21 lead in digs.
Ohio won the first set 25-18, the second 25-22 and the third 25-14.
Sophomore Amanda Begin chipped in a season-high six kills for Siena's struggling offense. Preseason MAAC Player of the Year Burgandy McCurty was limited to three kills in 16 attempts.
In addition to Herman and Post, Ohio was led by Meghan Simmons who killed eight of her 10 attacks in the match.
The two teams will each play twice on the final day of competition tomorrow in Syracuse. Siena takes on the host Orange at noon and Army at 5 p.m.
