Final Stats
Four different UAlbany players tallied goals as the Siena field hockey team dropped a 4-0 decision to crosstown rival and 18th ranked UAlbany this afternoon in the state capital in the Saints' final non-conference game of the season. Senior goalie Renee Clavette recorded 18 saves in defeat.
Inge Baijens got the Great Danes (11-3) on the board a little over five minutes into the game. But despite a dominating first half performance by UAlbany, the score remained 1-0 in the final moments of the stanza thanks to Clavette.
However, the Great Danes would strike with no time remaining in the half when Jess Lindsey fired home a tally off of a penalty corner.
Clavette and the Siena (3-11) defense would hang tough throughout, but UAlbany was too much and pulled away for the 4-0 defeat.
UAlbany also shutout the Saints in the shot column (33-0) and in penalty corners (18-0) as Siena was shutout for the fourth time in the past five games.
Christine Hoffman and Kristi Troch each played a half to combine on the shutout for the Great Danes, despite not being called upon to make any saves.
Siena returns to action and conference play Friday night against new NEC member Bryant. Game time is set for 7 p.m. from Smithfield, R.I.
