LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Amy Hordendorf scored four of Lock Haven's five goals, leading the Lady Eagles to a 5-0 decision over the Siena field hockey team this afternoon at Siena Turf Field. The defeat drops the Saints to 2-9 overall and 0-2 in the Northeast Conference, while Lock Haven improves to 11-3 overall and 2-0 in the conference.
Lock Haven dominated the first half, out-shooting the Saints 19-0, while taking six short corners to Siena's none. But once again Siena goalie Renee Clavette kept her team in it, making eight first half saves to keep the Saints within a manageable 2-0 deficit.
The Lady Eagles struck first blood in the ninth minute when Kristi Shepps stickhandled through the circle for her fifth goal of the season. Hordendorf then tallied her first goal of the game 20 minutes later, which would be her first of four consecutive tallies she would record.
The Saints had their best chance in the opening minutes of the second half when they peppered Erin Terreson with consecutive shots from point blank range, but could not find the back of the cage.
Lock Haven out-shot Siena 31-3 in the game and held a 10-4 edge in short corners. Clavette finished with 14 saves, while Terreson and Lindsay Staufenburg combined on the shutout for the Lady Eagles.
The Saints return to action Sunday for their final game of this three game homestand against Robert Morris. Game time is set for 11 a.m.
