LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena came back from an eight-point deficit with 2:16 left and forced overtime on two Cristina Centeno free throws with one second left in regulation, but lost to Binghamton 76-70 in a non-conference game at UHY Court in Loudonville, N.Y. Senior forward Sarah Fullmer scored a career-high 20 points and matched her career-high with 15 rebounds. She scored 18 points in the second half. Senior guard Allie Lindemann led the team with 21 points.
Siena (0-6) and Binghamton (1-4) played a back and forth first half that included nine lead changes. The two teams traded baskets through the first 12 minutes until Jackie Ward hit a 3-pointer to give her team a 13-10 lead. Ward scored a career-high 26 points to lead all players.
Binghamton led the rest of the first half until senior guard Merrick Volpe hit a little jumper at the buzzer and tied the game 22-22 going into halftime.
The Bearcats used a 15-0 run at the start of the second half to build a 37-22 lead with 15:35 remaining. Fullmer re-entered the game at the 15:37 mark and scored six points in less than a minute. The Saints battled back and got within three points on Lindemann's third 3-pointer of the game with 3:50 left to play.
Binghamton built its lead back up to 60-52 with 2:16 on the clock. Fullmer scored four points and Lindemann went 4-for-4 from the free throw line and Binghamton led 62-60 with 13 seconds remaining. Pantelli missed the front end of a one and one and Fullmer passed to Centeno running the floor and she was fouled by Andrea Holmes.
With one second left and the game on her shoulders, Centeno hit both free throws and forced overtime.
Siena scored the first four points in overtime, but shot just 1-of-11 the rest of the way and committed two turnovers. Fullmer, who brought the Saints back with 18 points in the second half and had a career night, didn't attempt a shot in overtime.
Lindemann scored six of the team's eight points in the extra period.
The Saints return to action on Saturday when they face cross-town rival UAlbany (3-3) at 5 p.m. It is the first game of a doubleheader with the Siena men at Times Union Center in Albany.
