The Siena women's swimming and diving team finished the third and final day of the MAAC Championships in Baltimore, Md. in sixth place overall with a total of 312 points. Siena swimmers and divers finished strong on the final day, setting three more new school records while also capturing a total of five top-10 finishes.
"It was an absolutely phenomenal championships and I feel that we have this program on the up and up," remarked head coach Greg Brown. "We are going to be an extremely tough team to contend with next season."
Rider University took home the women's crown with a final total of 770.50 points, edging second place Marist (764). Loyola finished a close third (727), followed by Iona (322.50) and Fairfield (321) ahead of the sixth place Saints. Canisius (187), Niagara (182), Manhattan (114) and Saint Peter's (88) rounded out the field.
Molly Chamberlain combined in part to set two of the new school records on the day. She finished ninth overall in the 100 free with a new school record time of :52.96 and then combined with teammates Rachel McShane, Caitlyn Biagioli and Brittany Pavolko to set the program record in the 400 free relay (3:33.20).
Reigning MAAC Diver of the Week Elizabeth Rice accounted for the other school setting record, finishing third overall in 3M dives with a score of 360.30. The local product out of Gansevoort, N.Y. completed a stellar MAAC Championships after finishing second overall in 1M dives on Thursday.
Other top-10 finishers included Lauren Maxwell who came in eighth in the 200 breast (2:32.70) and Bethany Fried who placed tenth overall in the 1650 free (18:01.64).
Siena, which completed the season at 7-5 and with a 3-2 record in MAAC meets, returns to action on Feb. 28 for the ECAC Championships in Boston, Mass.
