LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - St. Bonaventure overcame a 6-3 deficit early in the second half to defeat Siena 13-9 in a non-conference women's lacrosse game Friday afternoon at Siena Turf Field. The Bonnies scored six straight goals in less than 10 minutes and outscored Siena 10-4 in the second half. Senior Lindsey Rosecrans led the Saints with four goals and sits three points shy of the school's single season record.
After St. Bonaventure (7-7) took a 2-0 lead at the 21:47 mark of the first half, Lauren Corso got the Saints on the scoreboard 13 seconds later. She won the draw control and sped down the field to score the unassisted goal. Siena (6-7) scored four more goals in the next 10 minutes to open up a 5-2 lead. The scoring stalled for the rest of the half until Molly Hastrich tallied her first goal of the game with 33 seconds left.
Erin Hepper extended Siena's lead to 6-3 just over a minute into the second half. She came around the cage and whipped the shot into the back of the net. Hepper finished with two goals, three ground balls and caused a turnover.
But the Bonnies turned the tide in the next 10 minutes, scoring six consecutive goals to take a 9-6 lead. Hastrich (4) and Christine Hanley (2) combined for all six of those goals.
Rosecrans ended the run with goals at the 14:16 and 12:48 marks to bring Siena within one. St. Bonaventure scored the next two goals to take an 11-8 lead. Hepper tallied her second goal of the game on a free position shot and cut the deficit to 11-9 with 7:39 remaining, but the Bonnies scored two more within a minute of each other and held on for the 13-9 win.
Siena freshman goalie Kristin Concordia made eight saves and allowed 11 goals in her first game back from injury. St. Bonaventure's Tori Waheibi made four saves before giving way to Victoria Morgan who earned the win with two saves.
Siena returns to action Tuesday when they host Boston College in the team's final home game of the season. Game time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
