LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Women's Lacrosse has added a coaching reinforcement for the 2027 season with the hiring of former La Salle Academy girls' lacrosse head coach Dan Marcelle, whose team was the top-ranked MaxPreps' team in Rhode Island and ranked sixth in the nation for "best all-around school sports programs."
 
Saints Head Coach Danielle Schwan-Tetreault announced the addition of Marcelle as an assistant coach to the staff with a primary focus on the offensive side of the ball.
 
Marcelle comes to Siena after a highly successful run at La Salle Academy where he led the team to a 30-7 record in two seasons as they achieved double-digit victories in consecutive seasons and made back-to-back appearances in the state championship. The program set school records for total points, goals scored and the least number of goals allowed. 
 
"Dan knows what it means to compete and brings a strong offensive mindset that we are excited to see implemented," said coach Schwan-Tetreault.
 
"He is going to be a great addition to our staff and is ready to jump two feet into creating the right culture on and off the field." 
 
During his playing career, the Providence, RI native was a midfielder at Oberlin College in Oberlin, OH for three seasons. During the 2015-2016 season, he earned the North Coast Conference Academic Honor Lacrosse Award.

Marcelle earned a Bachelor's of Arts Degree from Oberlin College, majoring in history with a concentration in American History and was a double minor in philosophy and politics and elected member of the Oberlin Law Scholars program. Marcelle studied abroad at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland and was a member of the TCD Historical Society and TCD Gaelic Football team. Marcelle continued his education to earn his Master's of Arts degree in Teaching at Brown University in Providence. The co-founder of the Brown Club Lacrosse team was elected captain in the fall of 2021 and led the Bears to the New England Conference championship and the No. 5 national ranking.
 
Additionally, Marcelle worked as a head coach for the Revolution Lacrosse Club, was a director of player development for the RI Bulldogs and served as the JV head girls' lacrosse coach at La Salle as well as the Moses Brown School middle school coach.
